Ultramarathon Training Ep 10: The Same Place I Always Go
This week I had to say no to a race opportunity but still had an awesome week of training. It’s the silent sacrifice parents make.. the things they choose not to do even if they want to. Broken Arrow will definitely be on the calendar next year!

I’ve been learning recently that the best videos are the ones with fewer views because they’re so real. I love this 🩷
Thank you! Yes no fluff or frills over here I don’t have time for that 😂
any tips for running?? I just don’t really like running but I kinda want to get in the habit of it and start doing it. you make it look so easy!
Honestly might make a whole video on learning to “enjoy” running because it does take time and practice to enjoy it! But now I love it. Just know everyone usually starts there
ahhh! good work girl! you’re inspiring me rn to get up and move! 😭😭 keep up the good work! 💕💕
Love that! That’s my goal! Thanks for the encouragement 💕
as someone that works at a running specialty store, I really really appreciate this video. obviously, there is certain gear that I believe is highly beneficial (especially if you are dealing with specific aches & pains while running) but you would not believe the amount of people that come into my store and insist that they are not real runners because of the reasons that you mentioned. it always blows my mind, especially when their statement is something along the lines of, "I mean, I run, but I'm not a RUNNER, I don't do marathons etc." it's like they think they're not qualified to shop at a running store, or maybe that I'm going to shame them for not having done a marathon? which could not be further from the truth. even someone running a mile a week is doing more than a majority of people and yes, is considered a runner! on the flip side, I also meet individuals who come in as a very novice runner, perhaps not even looking to race at all and insist that they need the Vaporfly or something comparible because the internet/their friends told them it was the best shoe or what the pros wear. like you said, a carbon plated shoe is not at all necessary, but it could potentially be harmful for some people, too. racing shoes like the Vaporfly are not meant to be everyday trainers! they will break down much quicker and do not have the structure/support needed for every day training...... again, depending on the person. lol sorry for the rant but just wanted to say that you are much appreciated!
That makes me so sad! That’s good you’re able to speak encouragement to people at the store and give them the reassurance that they are a runner!
melasma 🤝 running I feel you!!!!!
So true! I’ll just plan on a chemical peel in 10 years lol
Way to go Bri! Doing what you can, when you can, is my motto! Love the videos. Much love and support! 😀❤️👟🌈🏃♀️
Same here! Thank you! Appreciate the support 💕
Nice content..... Trash
Your baby is super cute. 🥰 And you worked really hard. 👍🏼💪🏼🥵
Seriously I was beet red by the end!
Thanks for sharing. I've had similar experiences with achilles tendonitis. It can feel very "fragile" but, still allow one to run numerous miles without worsening as one one expect. Good luck with your training 💪
That’s good to know! Thank you!
Ma’am, intervals with a stroller is super woman status! Get it! 🙌
Omg it was so hard!
I was ridiculed for wanting to do stroller runs before my baby was 6 months old but could hold his head. Is this safe if they’re in the car seat though? I have a Thule but may have to get the Bob for the car seat attachment?? ..am pregnant with my second and already dreading not being able to run for a while
Dang I’m sorry you were! I did this with my son as well he’s two now. I read in the bob website that with the infant car seat adapter you can start at 3 months. I can’t find that now but my mom gut tells me she is fine.
Emotional support waffle 😂
Always gotta have one on me
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. 👍10
Thank you! Cheers!
Starburst girly here! 34g carbs/160 Cals. I save the pink ones for when I’m deep in the pain cave, they hit the hardest lol
That’s a serious pro tip
Do you bring anything for safety? Whistle? Mace? It’s one of my fears out in the trails. I’ve been watching too many crime shows
Pepper spray!
You can never be too careful
Sometimes tendons do feel painful during the adaptation period where it becomes more of a spring-like tendon… Most endurance runners end up with ropey and very stiff Achilles, (and glute medialis muscles). These are beneficial changes to the sport but can be mild to moderately painful. Personally if the pain is under 3/10, I’d keep running & hope it adapts within a few weeks.
That’s kind of what I’m thinking! I hope you’re right. Definitely will continue running this week and see how it responds. thank you!
If we lived in the same area I would totally assess it for you (Canadian), but if you do consult a doctor or physical therapist, make sure they’re competent with the biomechanical changes in runners! Sending lots of positive vibes your way!
The “no mommy’s gym” was so saaaad! My god they really do guilt trip you don’t they?! Don’t feel bad momma! You need to do things for your own sanity so you can be the best for your babies.
I know he was playin me 🫠 but once we got there he was so excited. Toddlers are so funny!
oh man Training hill is a beast (assuming in Auburn CA?). I'm doing 21 mi there tomorrow and will fully be dying at the end of it haha. Keep going mama!
Yes it’s rough! Good luck today hope it goes well!
🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️almost all my zone 2 runs are done with my littlest buddy
That’s amazing! You’re inspiring
So inspiring
Thank you! Trying 🙏
I love your videos and positivity!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Nice Shirt!
Thanks!
Nice transition. Yuck
lol what?
I would probably choose the watch out of any of the items mentioned. The rest are at best unnecessary and potentially even counterproductive. The financial cost of the world majors is not a barrier for me but I have little interest in running them. They are entirely a marketing concept. I roll my eyes at people flying to Tokyo just to jog around for a while. So wasteful.
That’s an interesting take, I definitely see where you’re coming from but the hype of the world majors looks so fun that’s what’s enticing to me
Where are you from
California
Great run! Keep up the amazing work! Out of curiosity I am a gal with athletic thighs, I am wondering what type of shorts do you wear/love?
I really like run in rabbit shorts! I wear a size large in those. In this video I’m wearing CRZ Yoga shorts size medium (they are a little tight). But they were great! If you buy it do it through my link in the description 😏
I love sour gummy candy on hot days.
That would have been so perfect for this run
Yay for you! 😊
Great effort in that heat !!
Thank you!
@@BriBurkeRunning Here I’m Hampshire UK the Summer hasn’t kicked in fully but the trails are great
@@irunoffroad that’s good! It gets very hot here during the summer lots of days over 100 Fahrenheit
“Leaves of three, leave them be.” Good way to avoid poison oak or poison ivy.
Go Karen go!
I’m not a Karen 😩
that is my favorite flavor of Bobo's!! also your trail run energy/hype is so awesome!!!
I just discovered Bobos they are so good! Wish I found them sooner!
I’m so glad I found your channel. Also it’s very nice to see someone else with a beet red face after a run.
Omg yeah I get so red I embody this emoji 👹
It’s only in the 80s here but I haven’t run in two weeks because my body just can’t regulate my temperature when I run when it’s hot. I wait until the evening and fast walk 4 miles or so, and I’m doing more strength training. My perfect running weather is in the 40s-50s, preferably drizzling. I couldn’t imagine running at 95 degrees.
40s 50s is ideal! I totally agree it’s way too hot!
Bri! I just wanted to mention that. I watch every one of your videos and think it's great that you've increased the frequency of posting slightly from before 😉 but because I don't comment on every video doesn't mean I'm not grateful for each one! You do a great job, the videos are great. So honest and not so puffed up and high tech and more pretend than be like so many fitness channels.
Thank you! I always appreciate the comments it’s super helpful! And yes trying to step up my game
Almost 4 months postpartum here. Lost almost 50 pounds before getting pregnant and continued working out while pregnant with my son. So glad I found your channel because I’m struggling trying to get back into working out/running after gaining weight during postpartum.
It’s so tough! Way harder post partum. Sleep deprivation, breastfeeding, taking care of a baby. So many things to juggle on top of taking care of yourself! You got this! Have you found a workout you enjoy and can do regularly?
@@BriBurkeRunning yes!!! Just trying to keep moving!! I try and keep it interesting whether that’s programming some of my favorite strength training exercises and running outside. It’s just a matter of finding child care so I can go get it done
Visibly holding in the "that''s what she said" at the end of the video lmao
My favorite part is seeing how much you pump 😂
You rock!
I feel like it’s a different amount every morning no clue why that is!
😂TWSS *noice*
Auburn! I love training hill, it’s a great workout 👏🏼🙌🏼
its soooo great! tons of hikers out there that day!
Mom of two lil babes AND running 10+ miles on the reg??? Girl you are a warrior keep it up!! 👏🏼👏🏼❤️🔥
trying! i have a great partner who helps make it possible for me to leave for hours. sometimes i feel like a golf husband 😅
@@BriBurkeRunning haha mommas need to decompress too!! I hope to be like you and continue distance running and lifting when I have kids someday 🫶🏼
I also hike before sunrise until shortly before midday because I can't stand the heat. You also seem to walk in the morning, probably for the same reason, as you mentioned here and elsewhere. I live in northern Germany, pretty much on the 52nd latitude, which is three degrees north of Vancouver, Canada. And it's early June and the hottest time of the day here is not midday, but around 5 pm. And now in June it's around 22 degrees Celsius, or around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (in summer it can get up to 40 degrees Celsius, or around 104 degrees Fahrenheit, in winter it rarely gets below -15 degrees Celsius, or 5 degrees Fahrenheit) and for me that's already very warm. From March to the end of September, I run exclusively in a shirt and shorts. What interests me is how warm it can get in your area so that it is more comfortable to run before sunrise. For your safety, don't mention where you live. Latitude will do. Grüße aus Deutschland! 👋🇪🇺🇩🇪
It gets to 110 Fahrenheit here during the summer in the hottest parts of the day! The early morning is the only time to run without dealing with extreme heat. Gotta get it done early!
Well-done!!!!🎉. You got this RUNNER 🤙🏾
Enjoyed this video! Definitely pinpointed areas of growth for me.
Oh let me know if anything helps you in the future! Thanks for watching 🤝
I love my running pack great for up to 3 hours. I just bought my dog his own pack since my runs are getting long enough that I can’t carry the water for both of us. If anyone is wearing carbon plates in the pace group I’m with I will laugh. We’re way way too slow for that. GU makes so many yummy flavors! I’ve finished runs just because my last gel is chocolate or salted caramel.
Haha yes to all of this! I love the salted caramel flavor
So you ran for 10sec uphill (jog back down) x10?
It was actually 30 seconds uphill jog back down idk why I said 10. 10 times!
You're so fast!!!!
UPDATE: Spring energy posted they are reformulating their product and changing manufacturing. That’s a big win!
Check them all.
It’s so insane!! I heard about this- really disappointing they aren’t taking more accountability. I don’t care too too much but basically $5 a gel they should have it right lol
Yeah I don’t buy their stuff that’s way outta budget for me but I know a ton of friends who use it and had troubles in their races! So crazy. Kind of makes me want to just make gels from home.
